Walking in faith: a testimony of surrender
For more than 20 years, I wrestled with my faith, praying and waiting for God to answer. I saw glimpses of his power, but I stayed still. Then I finally surrendered and stepped out in faith. Now I’m not walking… I’m running. God has opened doors that once seemed impossible. Through The Good Samaritan Mobile Soup Kitchen, faith becomes action — feeding the hungry, encouraging the broken, and reminding people that God has not forgotten them.

It's never too late
If you are waiting on God, hear this: it is never too late to give your life fully to Christ. Your journey of faith, no matter how long or challenging, is a testament to God's unfailing love and patience. Embrace the call to surrender and experience the boundless grace that awaits.

Scripture to guide your path
Psalm 40:2
“He lifted me out of the pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.”
Hebrews 12:1
“Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.”
Matthew 25:35
“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink.”

The lesson God taught me from a flock
The Lesson God Taught Me From a Flock
Years ago I raised about 400 chickens—egg layers and meat birds.
When you watch a flock long enough, you start to see something surprising.
Even chickens form communities.
Groups would naturally form—about 6 to 8 hens with one rooster. That rooster had one job: protect his hens, even if it meant giving his life.
My job was different.
My responsibility was to provide three things:
• Food
• Water
• A safe place to rest at night
When those three things were there, the flock lived in peace.
At night I could walk right into the coop and pick up any chicken. No running. No fighting. They were calm because they felt safe and provided for.
But if chickens become hungry, scared, or stressed, everything changes.
If one gets wounded and blood is drawn, the flock can turn violent. They begin attacking each other until eventually the flock destroys itself.
Years later I realized God had shown me something about people and the Church.
If people are given:
• Spiritual food — the Word of God
• Living water — the Holy Spirit
• Safety and guidance — faithful leadership
Then a community grows in peace and unity.
But remove those things…
Fear takes over. Division begins. People turn against each other.
Jesus said:
"I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me shall never hunger." — John 6:35
"I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep." — John 10:11
Without the Good Shepherd, we scatter.
Without trusting Jesus and walking in the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we eventually turn on one another.
We will not survive on our own strength.
We survive only when we surrender to Him.
And just like feeding that flock years ago, today our mission is simple:
Feed people.
Care for them.
Give them hope.
Because sometimes the first step to healing a soul…
is simply a warm bowl of soup and the love of Christ.
